The name of a Catholic church in Minnesota was recently voted as the most popular name in the United States, according to a national survey.
The study of 1,000 names in various languages was conducted by the Pew Research Center, the Associated Press and the Center for American Progress.
“The name of the church was chosen as the best for its Christian and missionary message,” the study said.
“Other names were not selected because of their religious affiliation or their use of a particular religious or ethnic background.”
The survey asked people to rate names on the following three scales: the religious-orientation dimension, the geographic dimension and the geographic and cultural dimension.
The survey also asked the respondents to choose their favorite name from a list of more than 2,000 options.
The names that were chosen as favorites were: St. Joseph’s Cathedral, St. John’s Episcopal Church, St Paul’s Cathedral and St. James Episcopal Church.
The Church of the Saviour in the Park was also the top pick, with more than 70 percent of respondents choosing it.
The poll found that the name St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican was the most common choice.
It also ranked among the top five names for Catholic churches in the country, the Pew report said.
